11/7/2022 0 Comments Garrard zero 100 cartridge boltsThe plinth that I currently have and the TT can be seen here before work started:įirst up was removal of the platter and tonearm assembly and removing the base of the plinth to get to the innards: As well as the service, I will be re-plinthing in a solid oak high mass skeletal plinth of my own design (the same design I shall be manufacturing for RFC) so this was a good opportunity for me to play around with the prototype plinth and iron out any glitches before I go into production with them. Noise floor had risen slightly of late and I thought I'd better strip it down and service it. I've had a nice late model 401 now for a few years but as far as I know, it hasn't been serviced in 40 years and has had quite a bit of use. I thought I'd share my latest DIY project as I know there's a few Wammers with 401s out there and this may be useful. I only found out afterwards, so I thought it worth passing on this as a piece of H&S advice to you 301/401 DIYers. WHEN CLEANING, DISPOSE OF ANY CLOTHS USED AND WHEN RE-APPLYING GREASE, BEST TO USE DISPOSABLE GLOVES TO AVOID CONTACT WITH THE LINKAGES.įirst time I did this job, I didn't realise that the linkages were Cadmium coated. GARRARD ZERO 100 CARTRIDGE BOLTS SKINPLEASE MAKE SURE THAT YOU WASH YOUR HANDS BEFORE EATING OR DRINKING ANYTHING, COVER ANY BROKEN SKIN OR CUTS AND AVOID DIRECT HANDLING IF AT ALL POSSIBLE. CADMIUM IS A HEAVY METAL AND IS KNOWN TO BE A CAUSE OF SOME CANCERS. THE LINKAGE RODS AND PLATES ON THESE WERE CADMIUM COATED AT THE FACTORY. PLEASE NOTE BEFORE SERVICING YOUR GARRARD!
